I needed a let out from my sometimes monotonous life at that point in time, when there was a new cafe opening bang opposite my house. The 1st day it opened, I saw the glittering lights from my balcony, and went to check it out with my mom. It felt like our 2nd home and the smallish cafe was neat. We had pizza and cappuccino. People usually give instructions to make it a thin crust pizza, but their natural pizza was like that.
Calcutta 64 Cafe is located in the heart of Salt Lake, Kolkata, surrounded by trees/greenery and a busy street, which leads to another borough. There are hanging lamps made of coconut shells on the trees adjoining the cafe, which gives a fairytale feel to the area.
Inspired by its namesake pin code 700064, where 64 is the 2nd part of the brand’s name, this idea is a super unconventional and unique way to name a cafe. The café combines a simple grace with a touch of homeliness drawing people into a world of monochrome art/furniture and lush greenery. Simplicity and elegance blend together to create an ambiance that feels both modern and comfortable.
The owner, Mr. Debojit Paul, has a keen sense for entrepreneurship! He gets excited for new business ideas. Apart from his work personality, he seems to be a gem of a person.
After a while, the small section expanded into a much larger room area and now, it was a big spacious cafe. Because people must have liked the cafe, they got the support to open the larger section.
I used to go myself to the cafe to write content on my MAC. There were different phases when I had different items from the menu. It started with cappuccino and chicken & chips. For meals, I had the chicken steak, sizzlers and the pepper & butter prawn main course. Presently, I do takeaways of hazelnut cappuccino and get it home to have it along with watching content by Lorie Ladd – a spiritual thought leader – who is very authentic, real and only talks about wisdom which is in her experience! She doesn’t do any sponsored content in this day and age to maintain organic growth. These are a few of the reasons I connect with her.
Calcutta 64 as an energy has seen me go through multiple phases of my life! Some good and some, not so good! But, I ain’t complaining as it was all meant to be – trusting in whatever is unraveling in my life – it’s for my highest good!
All the staff at Calcutta 64 Cafe contribute towards making it an amazing place to be through their warmth that was fostered in their upbringing. They come from respected backgrounds and therefore are able to give each customer a warm reception, hence turning simple meals into moments shared between old pals and new friends.
However, what distinguishes Calcutta 64 Café isn’t just ambiance or service; but rather culinary delights served here. Every meal prepared here is very attentive when it comes to details because they range from complete meals rich in taste right down to tempting desserts. Even if one longs for the delightful crunch of fish and chips or the tangy taste of a signature mocktail on a menu, there will be an array of food flavors which will perfectly gratify anybody’s preferences.
It’s worth noting in particular the fish and chips dish whose portions of fresh fish were remarkably generous, expertly encased in golden, crispy batter that speaks of the café’s commitment to its quality and taste. Every bite is an orchestra of textures and flavors that make one wish he was eating more.
